Our client based in Poole has a requirement for an experienced Production Engineer to deliver on strategic goals with regard to new equipment, process methods, production layout and production improvements.
Your main responsibilities will include the following:
• Support the integration of new products into production by identifying and installing work instruction, correct tooling, JIGs and fixtures, line layout etc and is completed ensuring the maximum efficiency is obtained and maintained.
• Support prototype build
• Ensure product has been designed for manufacture.
• Produce PFMEA and other control documentation.
• Design and produce test equipment when necessary for the new products.
• Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing and reviewing standard work methods and work instructions.
• Calculate estimated assembly times and associated costings.
• Ensure product manufacture is efficient and repeatable.
• Training and development of production staff to ensure compliance to standard operating procedures and maintain quality standards.
• Providing engineering / technical support to shop floor operatives to ensure minimal interruptions within production.
• Ensuring a smooth handover from Engineering to Production / Operations.
• Selecting the correct packaging concept.
• Ensuring assembly and product is produced as per relevant accreditations, PPAP….
• Implementing 6S into the production process of the product.
• Using LEAN methodology in the production process.
• Defining and choosing relevant required Capital equipment for the project.
• Implementing automation where justified, to improve production efficiency.
• Researching and implementing new technologies for manufacturing processes.
Applicants must have recent experience of working as a Production Engineer and hold an HND or equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial or Production Engineering.
Previous exposure to lean manufacturing methods and quality methodologies such as 5S Kanban, 6-sigma (Green Belt or higher) would be a distinct advantage, as would experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Autodesk Inventor) on equipment, systems and components.
You will have a desire to identify and implement improvements.
Experience of the production engineering of castings, injection moulding, gear design and assembly techniques would be a distinct advantage, as would experience of flowline manufacture.
